The career WRAL employee and former US Navy Veteran enjoyed playing golf, fishing, bowling and family time. He also was a Major League Baseball fan.
Born in Rock Mount, NC, he worked at various radio stations along the east coast before settling into a career at WRAL in the early 1960’s.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy May, of Florida, his son, Robert S. Searcy, of Youngsville, and his wife, Edna Searcy, of Raleigh.
His family will receive friends, Sunday, September 14, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh NC 27612. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM, in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to the VA Hospital and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
