

Robert Daylon “Pumpkin” Truelove, Jr., 86, of Raleigh passed away peacefully on August 5, 2012. A native and life resident of Raleigh, he was born on January 28, 1926 to the late Robert and Martha Eddins Truelove. He was a US Navy veteran. Pumpkin retired from the Raleigh Fire Department in 1982, after 28 dedicated years of service. He was a member of the James B. Green Masonic Lodge #735 in Raleigh, the Wake County Shriners Club, and the Shriners Temple where he played Santa Claus for many years.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Truelove Jr.
Surviving are: his wife, of 63 years, Lessie Stevens Truelove; two sons, Mike Truelove and wife, Solange of Raleigh, and John Truelove of Raleigh; a daughter, Tricia Hagemann and husband, Dale of Raleigh; two grandsons, Ryan Truelove and Cody Hagemann; two step grandchildren, Tiago and Paula Skora; a sister, Vivian Carter and her husband, Clyde of Cary; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday with the Rev. Bruce Taylor officiating. Interment will be held at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
