Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a talented and successful artist, who loved photographing nature. Roger loved football in general and the NC State Wolfpack in particular. He was also a gourmet cook. Roger loved people and they loved him. He would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. He was a good man who lived a good life and was loved and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his first wife, Gaynor May Brantley, his parents and numerous siblings.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Linda Monsees Brantley; son, William C. Brantley and wife Kay; daughter, Frances B. Caston; sister, Evelyn Kelly and husband Frank; 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Brown-Wynne.
