Rose Evelyn Whitney

Rose Evelyn (Violette) Whitney, 88, a Raleigh, NC resident for 44 years, and previously of Woodstock, NY died on August 29th, 2024. Rose was born March 3rd, 1936, in Old Towne, Maine to the late Madeline (Lawlor) and Leith Violette. Rose was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years, “Bill” in September 1980.

Rose is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Rosie) and Greg of Raleigh; daughter Peggy Holmes of Tucker, GA; grandson Daniel (Ashley), and great-grandsons Walter and Graham of Corvallis, Oregon. Rose was blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Rose was the sister of the late Joanne Violette, Kathy Longendyke, Elaine Berriman, and brother Joseph Violette.

A private Christian burial will take place at the Raleigh National Cemetery.

Rose’s son Joe and his wife Rosie would like to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Hillside Nursing in Wake Forest, NC for the exceptional care provided to Rose. The compassionate attention provided to Rose will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Meals on Wheels, Wake County, NC.
