Ruth Slater Flowers went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the age of 104 years young. She was the daughter of the late H.E. and Ella Shirley Slater and was born in Snow Hill, NC. She graduated from Snow Hill High School and Nursing School in Richmond, Virginia.
As a member of the Pocahontas Doll Club, she enjoyed repairing and making porcelain dolls. She also enjoyed reading and helping others. As a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church, she loved her church family and participated in lots of activities. She was a member of Helping Hands where red hearts and other items were handmade for numerous mission trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin D. Flowers, son, James C. Flowers, and son-in-law, Willard G. Plentl, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Ann, two grandsons, Will (Maria) of Raleigh, and Jeff (Sarah) of Raleigh. Four great grandchildren: Morgan A. Plentl, Cooper G. Plentl, Tanner V. Plentl and Wynn S. Plentl along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 9th, at Bayleaf Baptist Church with the funeral service to begin at 3:00pm. A reception will be hosted at the church following the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care given to their mother by the staffs at Seniors Helping Seniors; caregiver, Liz Njoroges; and Transitions Life Care Hospice.
