

Steven Metzler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on November 2, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, to Gertrude and Paul Metzler. Throughout his remarkable life, Steven was celebrated for his unwavering love for others and his boundless selflessness. He left an lasting mark on countless lives through his diverse roles, notably as a dedicated member of the Army Reserves, a school crossing guard, and a respected Volunteer Police Officer, positions he held with immense pride and commitment.
Steven is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Rosalie Metzler, his cherished daughters Barbara and Sharon, and his respected sons-in-law, Matt, Craig, and Rob. Additionally, he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through his beloved grandchildren: Paul and Brittani, Michael and Kaylee, Maxwell and Bri, Rebecca and Kyle, Abigail and Elliot, Harrison, Lucas, Grayson, and Cooper, who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Dear brother of Martin and his wife Jan and Steven's sister Judith. He will also be deeply missed by his extensive circle of friends, who became like family throughout the years.

A funeral service honoring Steven's life will take place on June 17th at 10am at the Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association in Steven’s honor.
Steven's radiant kindness, genuine warmth, and boundless love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength, a blessing to all who were touched by his presence.
