Tempie was born in Princeton, NC to Paul and Annie Corbett Tyner. She was owner/operator of a childcare center in Raleigh for many years. Tempie was a member of First Baptist Church of Raleigh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Sutherland; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Tempie is survived by her son, Donald E. Sutherland, Jr.; daughter, Ruth Green and her husband, Lamar all of Raleigh; brother, Linwood Tyner of Chester, VA; sister, Shirley Sauer and her husband, Tremaine of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren, Mark Edward; Matthew; Jason; and Nicole.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 4, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
