Teresa Gertrude Fomish

March 18, 1935 – December 5, 2023

Teresa “Geegee” Gertrude Fomish, age 88, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Geegee was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Geegee loved children and was a “sit in the mud and make mudpies with you” kind of grandmother. She also loved Elvis Presley and always kept up with the current music. Geegee will be dearly missed and always remembered.

In 2004 Geegee moved from Detroit, MI to Raleigh, NC to be closer to her daughter, Cathy, son-in-law, David, and granddaughter, Anna Hawksworth. She spent her final years enjoying the warm, southern sunshine and watching her granddaughter grow up. Geegee loved gardening and long walks, as well as her favorite shows including Survivor, Big Brother, and all soap operas. You could always find her outside tending to plants or playing with the dogs and cats.

Geegee was predeceased by her parents, John and Marion, her sister Helen, her husband Robert and her daughter Catherine. She is survived by her three remaining children, Barbara, Robert, and Susan, and her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Geegee requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all Geegee’s family and friends to join us in celebrating their beautiful life at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14th at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wake County Animal Shelter in her honor.
