

He was born on February 15, 1947 in Charlotte, NC. His parents were the late John Coble MacNeill and Katharine Powers MacNeill of Charlotte. Tom was raised in Charlotte with his brother, Jack, and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1965.
He graduated from NC State University in 1969 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Tom was an active member of Sigma Chi fraternity as well as a member of First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, and served as a Deacon. He served two years in the Army Air Corps, and then worked for various construction and engineering firms throughout NC, SC and GA.
Tom was married on July 12, 1969 to Rebecca Lynn Miller at the Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte. They relocated to Raleigh in 1987 where they raised their two children; Benjamin Coble MacNeill, and Margaret Katherine Floyd.
He was an active member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church serving on the Building Committee for their new sanctuary, and as a teacher in the Disciples Class. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Raleigh. He served on numerous committees helping many charities. He was the commissioner of his golf group coordinating all golf outings. Tom's many passions included golfing, surf fishing and outdoor cooking. He actively participated in raising and spoiling his Grandchildren; Trixie, Luke, and Wade.
He is survived by his brother; Jack and wife, Pam; his wife, Becky; his son, Ben; his daughter, Katy and her husband, Frank; his grandchildren; several nephews and nieces, and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church 7506 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615 with Pastor Tom Watkins officiating. Due to Covid, masks are required and if possible, testing is preferred as well.
The family requests that any memorials be made to Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church.
