

William Anthony “Tony” Batchelor was born on November 19th, 1944 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to Melba Eugene Batchelor and William Askew Batchelor. Tony loved people, had numerous interests, and put his talents to use working in politics, as a business owner, as a partner in a real estate company, and primarily specializing in restaurant management of popular establishments for over three decades.
Tony was married to his great love Ginger for 43 years. Tony is survived by his wife, Ginger Duke Batchelor, his brother, Timothy David Batchelor (Nancy), his son Todd Anthony Batchelor, his stepdaughters Amy Jordan Setzer (Scott), Anne Jordan Edmundson (Rob), his grandson William Jackson Batchelor, his step-grandchildren Caroline, Meredith, Robert, Jordan and extended family including nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Donna Joy Goodman (Larry).
Tony was a vibrant character with a huge personality, sharp wit, and great laugh. He was a friend to all and loved by all. He was completely comfortable in who he was and at total peace with himself. He loved reading (especially about World War II) and his favorite person in history was Winston Churchill. He enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life, socializing, and playing golf with his many friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family and anyone that knew him.
The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 18 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. and the Service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
