

Bill was born in Illinois on November 9th, 1946. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College and received his Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill spent his career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working in a variety of settings: private practice, the head of social work in a psychiatric hospital, administrator of a mental health agency and the community mental health director for the city of Portsmouth in Virginia. His last job before he fully retired was providing therapy to veterans at the Veterans Affairs of Hampton Roads, which he often said was a passion of his.
Bill was married to Jane, the “love of his life,” as he would say, for 29 years. He had a love of people, music and sailing – which he and Jane shared with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Jane and his son, Justin and family: wife Lauren and grandchildren, Audrey and Nora; his daughter Leah and family: husband Brent and grandson Ethan; and his daughter Carli and fiancé Bryan. His sister Susan and family: husband David, nieces Sara and Merrie, nephews Michael and Benjamin; his sister Sara and family: husband Bob and nephew Eric; and his “babies” (dogs), Beau and Sophie.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Sally Park, Father, William Park, his uncle, Charlie and his Aunt, Marian.
The celebration of life will be held July 23rd, 2023 at 1:00 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC, 27609.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to; Multiple Myeloma Cancer Fund, American Cancer Society, National Institute of Mental Health or Veterans of America or the Democratic Party.
