

Bill was born in Statesville, NC on September 27, 1931. He graduated from Statesville Senior High School and then served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. Bill received his Electrical Engineering degree from NC State in 1959.
He married Phyllis Coley in 1960 in Stem, NC; they were married for 62 years.
His business career was spent in engineering at GE in Lynchburg, VA from 1959 to 1964 and then at ITT / Alcatel in Raleigh from 1964 to 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Andrew Sain and Leila White Sain and his siblings Harold, Glenn, Clyde, Oleen, and Aileen. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Coley Sain, whom he loved dearly and would tell this to anyone that would listen in his last years. He loved his three daughters, Beverly Compere (Tom), Lisa Sain, and Pamela Rundle (Mike). “Papa/Grandpa” is survived by eight grandchildren, Ruth Gao (Morgan), Elizabeth Compere, Ezra Compere (Nikki), Shiphrah Compere, Emily Coglizer (CJ), Joel Rundle (Gracie), Betsy Rundle, and Annie Rundle and one great grandson Jamie Coglizer.
The family is so grateful to Jonathan Johns for the wonderful care he provided Bill over the last year, allowing him to stay at home.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at North Raleigh United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 10, at 3:30pm. The family would welcome our friends and family at the church at 2:30pm for a time of visitation prior to the service. 8501 Honeycutt Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615
