William Porter Sing Jr.

William Porter Sing, Jr. passed away suddenly on March 1, 2012. Porter, as he was known, was born in on July 3, 1968 in Charlotte, NC. Porter attended Myrtle Underwood and graduated from Enloe High School. He worked for over twenty years in food services at Springmoor Retirement Community and truly loved his job. Porter enjoyed walking nature trails, riding his bike, and spending time at the beach. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Porter is survived by his loving parents, William and Linda Sing of Ocean Isle, NC; his brother Stuart (Jenny) Sing of Rutherford, NJ; his nieces Isabella, Juliette and nephew Thomas Sing of Rutherford, NJ; aunts Carrie Sue Grier and Judy R. Little both of Charlotte, NC; and his group home family Amy, Sally, Marcus, John, Tommy and especially Joyce.

Porter’s family will receive friends this Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Then there will be a graveside service on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7407 Steele Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28217.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions in Porter’s honor to the Autism Society of NC, 505 Oberlin Rd. Suite 230, Raleigh NC 27605. Porter’s family would especially like to thank the staff at Autism Services for all the love and care they have extended to Porter for all these years.
