Barbara Ann (Briggs) Kish passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, with family by her side. Barbara was born in San Bernardino, CA, on December 28, 1938, one of four children born to Mary Eugenia and Thomas Lincoln Briggs III. The family moved to Red Bluff in 1943, settling on a ranch west of town off Red Bank Road. Barbara attended Red Bluff Elementary School and Red Bluff High.
Barbara was a wonderful mother, granny, great granny, sister, aunt, and friend. She dedicated her life to providing for and raising her five children. She had a fierce love for the wellbeing of her children, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all others related or close to her. She worked hard, played hard, and above all else, enjoyed every moment spent with family and friends.
Barbara began her career with the FAA in 1975, a career that would begin at the Red Buff Airport, promotions that would move her to the Sacramento Sector Office and then on to the Regional Office in Hawthorne in 1985. Upon returning to Sacramento on promotion in 1993, Barbara became the Program Support Manager where she remained until her retirement. Excelling in every aspect of her job and receiving many awards throughout her distinguished career, Barbara proved that women could be valuable contributors to the organization, paving the way for women to advance into positions that had previously been held by men. She became a mentor to many of her fellow female co-workers.
Barbara is survived by her children Kathy Evans, Jeanie Poulton (Dennis), Nancy Martinez (Tim), Linda Kish McIntosh, Don Kish (Janelle); brother Thomas Lincoln Briggs IV; grandchildren Jerome Evans, Hannah Evans, Alicia Walker, Tara Selvester, Clint Selvester, Julie Hill, Keli Hill, Loni Lind, Ian McIntosh; 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
As a family, we could not be more proud of our mom; for all that she was and forever will be to each one of us. We will miss you, Mom.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2:00 P.M., at The First Christian Church in Red Bluff, located at 926 Madison Street. Reception/Dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lassen House Employee Fund, 705 Luther Rd., Red Bluff, CA, 96080.
