With a heavy heart we say “alverierzane” to David Alden Burch. He was born in San Jose, California on September 30, 1936, to John Gottfried Burch and Grace Adelaide Coan. David took part in learning how to play golf at a very young age. His enjoyment of playing a round of golf was shared with his sons, Danny and Michael, as well as his grandchildren.
David grew up south of Red Bluff graduating from Gerber Elementary School and Red Bluff High School, class of 1955. He sang in the Sacred Heart Church Choir and served in the United States Army during peacetime. While in the army, he drove the arterially truck achieving the rank of SP4E-4. Upon returning from the army, he married the love of his life, Helen Early from Los Molinos. David worked as a sander saw line coordinator for 30 years at Diamond International/Rosberg until the mill closed down. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Knights of Columbus, Moose and Ducks Unlimited.
Celebrating 63 years of marriage with his wife Helen making Gerber, CA their home to raise five children. He was a loving, spiritual, and a generous man. His talent of photography, fishing, hunting, and golfing spread through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife Helen Burch, Gerber, CA; daughters: Kelli Pfeffen, Cottonwood, CA; Jodi Wilson (Bruce), Red Bluff, CA and son Michael Burch (Liliia), Red Bluff, CA. Grandchildren: Andrea Hall (Ethan), Pueblo West, CO; Matthew Pfeffen (Ashley), Cottonwood, CA, Samantha Robinson (Asa), Red Bluff, CA; Gregory Wilson, Red Bluff, CA and Evelina Fazullina (Matheis), Chico, CA Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Logan, Titus, Micah, Clara, Caleb, Isabella, Emma, and Adin. Sisters: Jeanne Hubbard (Bill), Chico, CA, Joanne Kellar, Redding, CA, and Bonnie Burch, Chico, CA. Numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Deceased children include son, Danny Burch and daughter, Kari Burch.
Visitation will be at Hoyt and Cole Chapel of the Flowers, Red Bluff on Tuesday, February 10th from 5:00-7:00pm followed at 7:00 pm with a rosary. The funeral service will be held at Red Bluff Sacred Heart Catholic Church on February 11th at 11:00 am concluding with a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Reception will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
