HARVEY ARTHUR CLARK 11/21/1928 ~ 4/7/2015 86 YEARS YOUNG Harvey was born in San Luis Obispo, CA to Arthur Clark and Hazel (Cullen) Clark. He spent his childhood years in Paso Robles and the See's Canyon. He left school in the 8th grade to help his father with the fields and the cattle. He was a true "Cowboy". He and his father became partners and at some point moved to Alturus, CA where he worked in the hayfields with the Hatfields. It was there that he met Eleanor G. Foster who, "when he saw her long slender feet he knew he would marry her". In 1955 he married Eleanor and they made their home in Alturus. In March of 1958, Larry Arthur was born. In December 1958 they moved to Daiyville to the "Jennings" ranch on Cone Grove Road where he raised cattle. In March 1961 they were joined by Joanne. In May 1963 Gary joined the family and it was completed. In September 1963 the cattle ranch sold and Harvey moved the family to the prune orchard. So he became the "Prune Farmer", but he never hung up his hat or took off his boots, he said "you can take the cows away from the boy but you will never take the cowboy outta this man!" Every Tuesday in the late 60's early 70's, Harvey worked at the Cottonwood Auction Yard on sale day. He and Harold Dunlap would roundup the cattle and get them to the arena for sale. In the late 80's Mike Kinner took over the harvest of the prunes and Harvey started hauling them in his pickup and trailer. Everyone grew to know the pickup and trailer because he at some point hauled something for just about everyone in the Dairyville area, earning him the name "Mr. Dairyville". Always with the gas pedal clear to the floor with smoke barreling out the back, he was always going 90 mph whether on foot, tractor or pickup. In 1988 he lost Eleanor to cancer an soon after married a life long family friend Anna May Fisher Bray, who brought with her four adult children and many more grandchildren. Anna's children have all said Harvey was the "best step-dad ever" and they loved him very much. In the early 90's Tim and Joanne Carroll started caring for the prune orchard, and Harvey continued to haul prunes or scrap, or boards and don't forget pistachios. In the late 90's he met "The Antique Tractor Club" and a new love was found. He bought a tractor (or 2) and restored it. He loved to ride in all the local parades and even started and headed up the tractor parade at the Dairville Orchard Festival, of which he was a big part of set up, tear down, and all the tractor patrons. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Anna May Clark.
