Following a brief illness, Helen Way Morris went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2016 with her family by her side at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA. She inspired admiration in everyone that knew her: "The world lost a gem of a lady, but heaven gained a very special angel."; "Kind, classy, and oh so sweet!"; "A life well lived." Helen was born June 22, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama to Charles Thomas Way and Genevieve Helen Blankenheim, one of 5 children. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Paul's High School in Birmingham. In 1952 Helen married the love of her life, Harry Price Morris. Active in the Worldwide Marriage Encounter organization for many years, Harry and Helen often served as a presenting couple during weekend retreats. After retiring from a 30 year career in the insurance field, Helen volunteered her time and talents at St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary, as well as St. Elizabeth Hospice as a home visitor. She served as past President of the Sacred Heart Women's Guild, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her including her son Charles "Hank" Morris and wife Jane (Woodland, WA); daughter Lisa Marie Morris-Pavlosky and husband John (Modesto, CA); brother, William Way and wife Loretta (Colorado); and six grandchildren, Kathryn (and Nick), Jacob, Jenessa, Kyle (and Brittany), Carlee, and Samantha. Helen is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend and companion for the last ten years, Douglas Johnson. Helen and Doug enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the United States and abroad. There will be a Viewing from 2-5 PM, Sunday, October 9th, at Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff, including a Rosary and Eulogy beginning at 4 PM.
