Elizabeth (Beth) May Birk born 5/24/1957 Japan, passed 3/21/25 at Mercy Medical Center Redding.  Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Serge Birk, mother Kieko, father Elbert, and her younger brother Del.
Beth immigrated to US from Japan at age 8. She grew up in Fairfield CA.  Beth maintained lifelong friendships with her Fairfield, college years, and Red Bluff community friends.  
Beth studied Recreation Therapy and graduated from CSU Chico. During an exchange year attending UNH, Beth met her future sister in law and set fate in motion to eventually meet her future husband Serge.  She earned her Recreational Therapy Credential and maintained her RTC throughout her career.
Following college graduation Beth lived in Santa Barbara CA and began her therapist career with Devereux Foundation.  
Beth left Santa Barbara to join Serge in Nevada where they developed an aquaculture program on tribal lands, growing shrimp and tropical fish.  Beth enjoyed “swimming with the fishies” and helping operate that business.
Serge’s work led them to Red Bluff CA where they lived and worked for many years.  Beth was very proud of her work for the Tehama County Department of Education SERFF program leading afterschool programs for youth in Tehama County.  She was a frequent community volunteer, strong supporter of Mercy Foundation, and volunteered with the Mercy Hospice program.  She joined the Red Bluff Kiwanas and was well loved for her work as the Camp Dean for the annual children’s summertime camp program.  
Beth was well known and well loved in the Red Bluff community and always willing to help anyone in need or any good cause.

A celebration of life will be held on May 17, 2025 at 2pm at the Red Bluff Community Center, 155 S Jackson Street, Red Bluff CA 96080 Westside room.
