Lyle “Abe” Everett Abel passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He was 76 years old. Abe is a nickname he acquired short for Abel. He was born on July 26, 1945 in Tonasket, Washington to Orand Orandoff Abel and Mary Irene Brothwell. Abe is survived by two of eight siblings, Norma Dimmick and OranDella “Pe-Wee” Givens, 6 children, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Abe had been a resident of the Red Bluff community for the past 40 years.
In 1964, at the young age of 19, he enlisted into the Marines. He helped serve his country and fought in the Vietnam War. Abe received numerous metals while enlisted: National Defense service, Vietnam service x 2, Vietnam campaign medal x 2, good conduct, and the rifle marksman badge. Abe was married for 24 years and had six beautiful children; Eric Abel, Craig Abel, Mark Abel, Lisa Fisher, Chad Abel and Lacey Tweedt.
Abe was successful in his entrepreneurship. He owned and operated Abe’s Arco and Service station, Abe’s Towing Service, Abe’s Wrecking Yard and long haul truck called “The Global Lemon”.
In his retirement, Abe enjoyed following and attending all of his grandkids activities. He became the master of juggling baseball and football games in between attending his granddaughter’s musicals and vocal performances. Also in his spare time, Abe loved to go hunting, shooting and exploring the backroads in his jeep. Abe was one man you could always count on.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on September 23rd at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, Ca. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers, Red Bluff, Ca.
