

RUTH ANNE SCHWARTZ October 23, 1930 ~ August 18, 2014 Ruth Anne Schwartz passed away August 18th at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Japan on October 23 to Ernest and Marion Healey. She grew up in New England and attended New Canaan Country School in Massachusetts. Ruth moved West to attend Mills College, in Oakland and there she met Charles Cole. Two daughters were born from their union, Carolyn and Patti. Ruth, later, married and divorced Jack Schwartz producing a daughter, Heidi. Ruth resided in different parts of California. She made her final home in the community of Red Bluff. Ruth owned and operated Professional Business Services until the time of her death. With a wink and a smile, her clients were rewarded with excellent service. Ruth was colorful and spunky. She was well-read and well-bred, had the flair of Isadora Duncan and the spirit to charter her own course. She scaled the steps of Assisi, watched glass-making in Venice and paddled into the breaking surf of Maui. With the body and fitness of a dancer, she conquered speed boating, wind surfing and water skiing. She was a master gardener with a love for Japanese maple trees. She found joy in their changing colors and graceful form. At the time of her death, she had a huge variety of different types and sizes. Ruth never met a nursery she didn't like and there was always one more interesting flower or special planter to bring home. . Her yard became a modern day Eden. As the "Queen of all that Grows", she would enjoy her yard with a glass of wine (with ice) and a smoke. Ruth was a passionate animal lover and cat whisperer. Her house was filled with wagging tails, chirping birds, exotic tropical fish and many kitties. All animals were welcome at her home and she hosted many kitty cat meals. Ruth had a warm heart and was blessed with the kindest of friends. We thank each and every one of you for your friendship and support over the years. Thank you Weldon, Heather, Matt, Derrick, Mary Jane, Judy, Sandy, Abraham, Dr. McDaniel and the many others. Ruth is survived by three daughters and one fabulous son in-law, four charming and smart grandchildren and three beautiful great grandchildren. She leaves behind her furry four legged friends - Yogi, Kobe, Chaton and numerous other kitties. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal charity. As a service and memorial, please hold a place in your heart for Ruth. When you feel the soil of spring between your fingers, sip a glass of wine, or smell the smoke from a passing cigarette think of Ruth. If you see a tiny woman in a huge van, watch out! Remember her wonderful smile. She loved you all. Cheers!
