1922 - 2014
Anne Morgan left us on July 7, 2014 at age 92.
With her late husband Robert P. Morgan, Anne was a central part of her Redding community since 1971, the year she moved here with Bob, whom with her support, made Crown Motors into the successful business it became.
Born in Canada on May 7, 1922 into a large Ukrainian immigrant farming family, she met and married Bob in Vancouver Canada, moved to San Francisco, then came to Redding, becoming an integral part of this vibrant Redding community which she grew to love so very much. Cruising in the big ships, visiting family and friends all over the world, entertaining and sharing her wonderful, much in demand handwritten Ukrainian cookbooks were her life's passion.
Anne was very active in numerous charitable and social organizations, and she gave tirelessly of her time and money. She loved animals (some say, more than humans), working in the thrift store for Haven Humane Society, and donating generously to other animal shelters like "Another Chance" in Palo Cedro. Anne was also moved to support "One Safe Place", a Redding Women's shelter, and The North State Symphony. She was so very proud that Haven Humane Society named their brand new adoption facility "The Morgan Adoption Center" and was even prouder in the knowledge of the wonderful job it does with homeless dogs and cats.
That commitment to charitable causes manifested itself into hers and Bob's creation of a charitable trust leaving the bulk of their joint assets to Haven Humane, One Safe Place and the North State Symphony.
The seventh of ten siblings, Anne was preceded in death in 2008 by her loving husband Bob, three brothers, Nick, John and Arthur, four sisters, Mary, Helen, Doris and Irene, and recently her niece Jean.
She is survived by her brothers Sandy (Pearl) of Alberta Canada, and Andy (Judy) of British Columbia Canada. Also by many nieces and nephews in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and South Africa. Anne's cat and dear friend Calli has been accepted for adoption by Haven Humane Society.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at 10:30am at McDonald's Chapel, 1275 Continental St, Redding CA 96001 (530-241-1626). A reception and refreshments will follow the ceremony.
We will honor this remarkable woman.
