November 10, 2012
Betty Jean Vickers passed suddenly on Saturday, November 10. She was 67 years old. Betty Jean Cooper was born in Yakima, WA and graduated from Anderson Union High School in 1963. She attended Shasta College, and enjoyed "keeping the score book" at baseball games in the area. She worked at Fidelity Title Company in Red Bluff and Redding for 20 + years.
In 1984, Betty met the love of her life, Roger Vickers, and thus began a 28 year adventure that included a great deal of travel throughout much of the country. To their friends, Roger and Betty became synonymous with travel, especially to their beloved Hawaiian Islands. They married on Oahu, and were partial to both Kauai and The Big Island. Betty could not get enough of the Hawaiian culture, and it's flora and fauna.
She enjoyed the oceans, Jimmy Buffet, NASCAR, and taking care of and finding bargains for those that she loved. Betty is survived by: Husband, Roger Vickers, son; Craig Bailey, daughter; D'Angela Bailey, brother; Jerry Cooper (and wife LaDora-children Cory and Ty), sister; Vivian Frelich (and husband Jeff-children Adam and Kayla). Memorial services will be held this Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at McDonald's Chapel in Redding. Aloha attire is encouraged for the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. Please put "In Memory of Betty Vickers" in the memo line. They can be reached at jimmiejohnsonfoundation.org or 4325 Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28262.
