Cathy (Peterson) Hall was born prematurely in early December, 1947, in Los Angeles, California to Richard and Alice Peterson. She was blind due to complications from her early birth. Her mother, Alice, passed away in 1953, and Cathy was adopted by her new stepmom, Virginia, in 1956. Cathy passed away this past weekend at Shasta Regional Hospital in Redding. Cathy attended special schools for the blind during her elementary years and graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1966. She was one of the first mainstreamed students in the Los Angeles public school system. Cathy lived independently in Los Angeles until her parents moved to Weaverville in 1975. She then relocated to Redding. She attended Shasta College and graduated with her AA degree. In 1983, she met and married Herbert Hall, who had lost his sight due to diabetes. The two of them enjoyed almost 31 years together living independently in Shasta Lake City. Herb passed away less than a month ago, and Cathy really missed her "cutie pie". Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her young nieces and nephews. She had perfect pitch and was an accomplished pianist. She obtained her Ham Radio license so that she could share in Herb's hobby. She loved listening to Oldies music and Old Time Radio shows. Everyone will always remember her for her jokes that she would tell to every person she met.Catherine is survived by her sisters Terry Bennett (Rich) of Redmond, WA, Christine Bucks (Jeff) of Redding, CA, and brother Eric Peterson (Adriane) of Weaverville, CA, as well as several nieces, nephews, and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hall, her father, Richard Peterson, and mother, Virginia Peterson. A memorial service is planned for 10 am on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at McDonald's Chapel in Redding.
