

George W. Hartman, 77 of Shasta Lake went to be with our Lord Sunday, March 8, 2026. George was born August 20, 1948, in Oakland, California to Howard Downey Hartman and Julia Dorothy Pacheco. At age 20, George enlisted with the United States Army and fought valiantly in the Vietnam War in Company A, 5th Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He returned home under honorable conditions after completing 1 year 10 months and 13 days of Active Duty. George was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device, Air Medal, and a Purple Heart.
After returning home George settled in Vallejo, California where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Joyce DeLeon. They were wed May 10, 1980, and welcomed two sets of twin boys in 1980 and 1983. George enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time, but most of all he was a devoted and loving husband and father. He will be remembered by family and friends for his loyalty, love, honor, bravery, and faith.
George is survived by his wife, Linda Hartman, his sons: George Hartman, James Hartman, Matthew Hartman, and David Hartman, as well as his stepdaughter Tina Griffith, 17 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lettie Hartman, and his stepson, Alan Griffith.
The family would like to thank Ryan at McDonald's Chapel, Amanda at the Igo Veteran's Cemetery, The Patriot Guard, Redding VFW, and the Army Honor Guard for going above and beyond to assist our family and honor this great man as we lay him to rest.
