Jean Baptista LeBrun, age 82, of Palo Cedro passed away on May 13, 2026. He was born on November 21, 1943 in Albany, California to Louis and Josephine Brun. He spent many of his formative years being raised by his grandparents, Anthony and Bessie Lombardo, in Albany.
Jean graduated from Tennyson High School in Hayward, where he met and ultimately married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn DeLoy. They were married in 1962 and had three children. During their marriage, while living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jean worked for Mother’s Cookies and Ford Motor Company. He also farmed and worked in construction, never working just one job.
Jean moved his family from Hayward in 1977 and built their family home on a few-acre parcel in Palo Cedro. He accepted a temporary position with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in the early 1980’s. This position turned into permanent employment, and he retired from Caltrans in 2003.
Jean loved the outdoors, having been an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. As time went on, he grew passionate about landscaping and gardening, even starting a landscape business he would run after work during the week and on weekends. Jean was one of a handful of men who began the local Sons of Italy chapter (Shasta Lodge #2453) in 1980 and was an active member for years. Jean and JoAnn were married 31 years before divorcing.
Jean and Sandra Lee Messenger worked together for many years at Caltrans before marrying in 1994. Sandy had four adult children who welcomed Jean into their family with open arms. Jean and Sandy shared a very happy life together camping, traveling and entertaining friends and family in their home. They were married 30 years.
Jean will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving and protective father and grandfather, abundant provider, hard worker, and an honorable man of strength and integrity.
Jean is survived by his daughter Gina Warren, daughter Annette Longmeyer, daughter and son-in-law Elaina and Terrence Tupper; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Terrence Johnson; brother and sister-in-law Dean and Paula Wilson; step-daughter and son-in-law Janeen and David Eckmann; grandchildren Jeffrey Warren, Dexter Stevens, Sylvia Kline, Julia May and Wayne Flanagan; step-grandchildren Brett Griffith, Kimberly Griffith, Eric Eckmann and Courtney Corrow, as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jean is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra Lee LeBrun.
Services and reception will be held in private, and the family appreciates all for their understanding during this difficult time.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice and Mercy Oncology for their loving attention to and care of our father.
