Larry you have touched so many lives you will be deeply missed. You were a great Husband, Father and Father in law, Grandpa, Uncle but most of all Brother in law. I want to thank you for being there for me, for making me laugh so hard you made me cry, and for the jokes you played on me, embarrassing me but most of all the talks we had. I will miss you so very much, I love you 💕 

My fondest memories of Larry (aka pops) were always built around his indistinguishable laugh and smile that can light up a room. The world lost a beautiful soul with Larry and I send my condolences and best to the rest of the Chaves family.

My most sincere condolences to Nellie and Veronica,  Larry was one of my oldest and dearest friends and I will miss him sorely.  Until we meet again.

To my dearest friend Larry, 

Words cannot described the emptiness I felt , when I received the news of your passing. My heart is broken. I know in time it will heal, because I know that’s what you would want. The date of your passing will forever be inscribed in my mind, but more importantly,  You were more than just a friend, you were a mentor, not only to me, but for many within the Sheriff’s Office. Know that you had a positive impact on everyone who crossed your path. You had a passion to succeed in your career and many that you worked with were fortunate to see and learn from you. You will be deeply missed my friend. Your infectious laugh, humor, gentle soul and that mustache will live on. I have faith and believe the good lord has accepted you because you were a good man, a good husband, a good father and  a good grandfather. I pray that your in peace and your riding your motorcycle, shooting your guns, combing your mustache and eating lots of pot stickers. You and your memories will live on forever. Romans 14:8 - For if we live, we will live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or wether we die, we are the Lord’s.

We are heartbroken to hear of Larry’s passing. Larry was a great friend and mentor to many of us over the years within the Sheriff’s Office throughout his career. Larry always made himself available even after he retired and always kept it positive, even till the end.

To Nellie and family, we have you in our prayers through this difficult time. 

It goes without saying, but I can attest to the fact that he adored you Nellie. You were his rock, he praised you for the life and the family you both built for each other and your family. 

Veronica, he was always so proud of you, loved talking about you from the day I met him to the very last conversation we had together. He was so proud of you and your husband starting your family with baby Gigi. He didn’t want to go, but rest assure he’s got your six from up above. 

Larry was loved by many, the great advice and the laughs he provided for so many of us will always be remembered. 

Your Father had a positive impact on many. His memory will live on forever!

We are deeply saddened at hearing that Larry has passed away.  I worked with him for over 20 years and during that time, we shared many laughs and good times.  Larry was an exemplary Deputy Sheriff and was very good at this job.  He was an excellent partner and he taught me much about our job.

We pray for his wife Nellie and his family that the good Lord brings them peace and comfort during this difficult time.  Larry will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.  

Rest in Peace my friend,  you are no longer in pain.  You fought the courageous fight and we honor you for all you gave us.  Until we meet again my brother.

To the Chaves Family 

It is with deep sadness and shock to learn of Larry’s passing. He was 
a valued member of our San Mateo County Sheriffs Office. 
He was always cheerful, his personal communication skills were well suited for our workplace. His smooth demeanor 
Served to help him manage the behavior of the inmates he supervised. We missed his presence when he retired. We are devastated now that he is gone.
Our prayers are for his eternal rest, in the presence of our God.
Our thoughts for his family, are that they are comforted with the memories of this very gentle soul.
