Redding, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and George Pieltain, her
brother, Joseph Pieltain and her husband, Emile Geron.
She is survived by her son, Chris Geron and his wife, Sherry Geron, of Anderson. Grandchildren, Jesse
Geron and his wife, Chelce Geron, of Redding and Crystal Carter and her husband, Zach Carter, of Red
Bluff. Great Grandchildren, Ian Aase and Emilia Geron of Redding, and her beloved dog, Shadow.
Marie grew up in Belgium during World War II and had lots of stories to share about the tough times living
through Nazi Germany’s occupation, including her father being taken as a prisoner of war. Marie’s love of
beauty and fashion and led her to obtain her cosmetology license. She married Emile Geron, in Belgium
December 1954 and gave birth to their son.
In 1964, Marie bravely immigrated to the United States, settling in the Los Angeles area. Alone with her
son and not knowing any English, she arrived with only $20 to her name. She had a strong work ethic and
held a variety of jobs, determined to build a good life for her family, Marie’s husband, Emile, joined the
family in the United States. Together they moved to Redding, in 1969 where Marie was the owner of a
couple beauty shops, “The Majestic” Hair Salon, on Bechelli Lane, and “The Contesta” on Hartnell Ave.
Marie was a kind, caring, and generous person. Workers at the Placer Street Holiday Market loved seeing
her and Shadow in the store. Marie and Shadow also enjoyed spending time at the Benton Dog Park,
where they both made many friends. Thank you to everyone who was so kind to Marie, you all brought a
lot of joy into her life.
Services will be held at McDonald's Chapel in Redding on Friday, January 18, 2019. A viewing will be
held at 12:00 p.m. and graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. There will be a gathering following the
services at Marie’s home in Redding.
