

Marie Marrero was born in Austin, Texas on September 23, 1916. She lived there for approximately 40 years before moving to California. Shortly after the death of her husband of 60 years she moved to Euless, Texas. She remained in Euless for the next 13 years then relocated to San Antonio, Texas to live with her brother for next 7 years. After the death of her brother in 2015 she moved to the Yucatan, Mexico and spent 1 year with her granddaughter and grandson. In 2016 she returned to Shingletown, California to spend her final days with her son Sam Marrero and his family.
Marie had an interesting life. Her career began in 1930 working for Albert Sidney Burleson, Post Master General. In 1950 she went on to become President of the PTA Association for the State of Texas. Other jobs throughout her illustrious life included a Radio DJ, Teacher and Seamstress. She was instrumental, while working election polls, in encouraging Hispanics of the importance to Vote.
Many of the quotes her family remembers her stating were: Always make your bed, it makes it look like you've accomplished something. If you spit up to the sky, it will fall in your eye. If you want to take care of your body and not get so big, don't eat like a pig. There is no one as blind as the person who doesn't see. Don't envy what you don't have, you don't need it.
Marie went on to be with the Lord on August 18th, 2016. She precedes 3 sisters and 2 brothers, and is survived by her son Sam Marrero, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 23 great, great grandchildren and 1 great, great, great grandchild.
