Sean Patrick O’Hara
Sean Patrick O'Hara, age 67, passed away after a bicycle accident in Redding, CA, on June 13, 2020. A brave group of baseball parents, to whom we are forever grateful, showered him with prayers, back rubbing, and love as he died.
Sean was born on January, 9, 1953 in San Francisco, CA, to Thomas and Coral (Bartholomew) O'Hara. His family later moved to San Rafael where he graduated from Terra Linda High in 1971. He was married for 10 years and, with his two children, he enjoyed playing tag, filming them on a camcorder, hiking to Cascade Falls in Fairfax, and catching sand crabs at China Camp State Park.
Sean loved being out in nature. He felt called to the desert, Lake Tahoe, Point Reyes, and China Camp, and he spent much of his free time traveling to these places of wonder to pray and be close to God. Sean also loved immersing himself in spiritual singing.
Sean was a tinkerer. He built his own computers, performed his own car and motorcycle maintenance, and engineered household solutions with bungie cords, hair ties, and binder clips. Holding a diverse array of professions over the years, he fixed computers, worked as a correctional officer at San Quentin, drove trucks, fixed slot machines, and tended to others as a home health aid. In more recent times, he also cared for his mother in San Rafael until her passing in 2018.
Sean liked to drive folks around town for errands and doctor visits, and he humored the neighborhood children of his apartment complex in games of “hide-and-seek” and “ding-dong-ditch.” One neighbor described him as “someone who made a difference” in their lives. Sean was a humble, kindhearted, and sensitive soul who will be dearly missed.
Sean was preceded in death by his father Thomas, his sister Lori, and his mother Coral. He is survived by his children, Heather (Marcel) and Spencer (Abigail); his grandchildren, Taylor, Sylvan, and Miles; his brothers, Brian and Timothy (Robin); and his nieces Rebecca and Jamie. A small outdoor service will be held. Please contact: email@example.com for details. To remember Sean, we suggest donating to your charity of choice or singing a song that brings you spiritual connection.
