Wendy Sue Connolly died on August 30th 2024 at her home in Palo Cedro, California, where she
moved after 34 years in Moraga. She was 70. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister,
daughter and in-law, Wendy Sue adored her family. Born to Robert and Betty Worrell in Cincinnati,
Ohio, the family moved to Piedmont in 1959. Wendy Sue graduated from Piedmont High in 1972 and
earned her BA in Art and Animal Science at the University of Arizona, where she joined the Alpha
Phi Sorority. In 1980, Wendy Sue married the love of her life, David Thomas Connolly, and they
raised their three cherished Children in Moraga.
Wendy Sue was a dedicated and loving caregiver for all, but most especially for Dave who suffered
many health issues for over 25 years. Dave was often an impatient patient, but Wendy Sue was
understanding and devoted to him. Wendy Sue's jobs reflected some of her many interests; she
was an expert framer at an art studio in Lafayette, a veterinary assistant at Contra Costa Animal
Hospital in Moraga, and an art and cooking instructor for 26 years at the Road Runner after school
program at Rheem Elementary. Wendy Sue was an artist who focused on photography and painting,
including a mural on the wall of her granddaughters' bedroom. She loved animals, especially horses,
dogs and cats. She found a great outlet in writing, including many poems dedicated to Dave and
other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dave, parents Robert and Betty, mother-in-law Merle
Connolly, brothers-and sister-in-law Daniel, Mark and Kathleen. Wendy Sue looked forward to
reuniting with them, especially Dave. She is survived by her loving Children Thomas (Ashley), James
(Casey) and Kathleen (Aaron), granddaughters Timber and Paloma, sister Martha Worrell, brother
Doug Worrell, sister-in-law Jane Connolly, and thirteen nieces and nephews.
The family are grateful to the doctors and nurses at UC Davis as well as Mercy Hospice for the
wonderful care they gave Wendy Sue in her final days. Services for Wendy Sue will be held at
MVPC in Moraga on November 1st -10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be
made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. https://www.npcf.us.
