Gary Walter Mack
November 10, 1943 – September 7, 2019
Gary Walter Mack, 75, who was a longtime resident of Garland, TX, passed away on 9/7/2019 in his home in Rowlett, TX. Gary was born in Dallas, TX to Hester Celeste Jackson Mack and Lee Mack on 11/10/1943. He went to school at Mesquite High School and then North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) in Denton, TX and later completed additional degrees through Dallas County Community College. He married Diane Marie Butaud Mack on 8/21/1966 in Denton, TX. He worked as a Clerk Supervisor for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served two tours in the Army and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was involved in various Rocket and Technology Clubs. He had a passion for reading, especially science fiction and geo-political science material.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Mack and Hester Celeste Jackson Mack, his wife, Diane Marie Butaud Mack, and his brother, Jimmy Mack.
Gary is survived by his son, Patrick Thomas Mack and daughter in law, Valerie Natasha Velazquez Mack, and his grand-daughter, Shannon Leigh Mack.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, September 14th at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 16th at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. A private burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to The Salvation Army.

Clements Jr. University Hospital for giving us two extra years with Gary and staff from Vitas Healthcare for allowing us to bring Gary home to his beloved dachshunds Becca and Pablo before his passing. I didn’t know Mr. Gary for a long time, but the times that I share memories with him; where very kind, humble, and even though he didn’t understand my English well, he tried to communicate with me. May God bless his soul and bless the family through this tough times.
