MATTHEWS, Alan H., Jr., 55, of Richmond, Va., passed away on April 24, 2019. He was born in Richmond, Va., on February 12, 1964. Al graduated from Meadowbrook High School. He was married to Laurie Matthews on October 24, 2015, and they were together since 1991 as life partners. Al had a career in HVAC for 35 years with Carrier Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; sister, Debbie Matthews (Susan); daughter, Stephanie Catedral (Afrodicio); and three grandchildren, Javier, Alaina and Matteo. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, Va. 23150. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Richmond SPCA.
