

Andy was preceded in death by his father, Andrew C. Shufflebarger Jr.; his mother, Kathryn J. Miller; his grandmother, Kathryn E. Johnson; and his nephew, Jeremy Silva.
He was formerly employed by Philip Morris, where he dedicated many years of service.
Andy had a lifelong love for the outdoors and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a proud member of the NRA, Northern American Fishing Club, AGI Armorer, Virginia citizens defense league, and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time building firearms & sharing a long conversation! He was also known for collecting unique items and treasures, a hobby that brought him great joy and reflected his curious spirit. He did have the greatest taste in music. No one could beat his playlist.
He leaves behind his loving daughters, Stephanie Marie Tate & April Lynn Shufflebarger. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher “C.J.” Tate, Ian “Boogie” Williams, Brice Tate, Mariah “Baby Girl” Stone and he held a special place in his heart for his niece, Maegan “Rosey” Ramsey, whom he loved like a granddaughter. He was also blessed with one great-grandson, Grayson Tate.
Andy is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl Seay (Bucky), Linda Kidd (Chuck), Karen Russell (Larry), and Jeri Silva (Joe). Three nieces, three nephews, and close friends who shared a lot of stories & forever memories with him including Bobby, Buck, Larry, Cecil, & Fuzzy. His beloved pets, Valerie and Simba, were faithful companions to him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Andy’s life during visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. A graveside funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA 23150.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA in Andrew’s memory.
Andy will be remembered for the “Dad/Pop” “Papa” & “Grandpa” that he was. THE BEST! His love of family, his passion for being a master Armorer, hunting/fishing, his generous heart, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
