

A native of Lakeland, Florida, she attended St. Joseph's Academy, then went on to graduate from Lakeland Senior High School in 1958. As a dedicated mother of four children, she went back to school to earn her LPN and worked for Laburnum Medical Center. She later obtained her RN and furthered her career as an oncology nurse at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, retiring after 36 years of service. As a master gardener, her love for gardening was only exceeded by her love for family and neighbors. She loved cooking and baking. She always enjoyed sharing her creations with family, friends, and neighbors. She could never let anyone leave unfed.
Daughter of the late, Glenn and Genevieve Freer, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Gregory Malcolm Underwood; siblings, David Freer (Connie), Betty Dobbings (Bill), Kay Doren (Tony), and Don Freer (Virginia). She is survived by her sister, Joan Freer; daughter, Marjorie Underwood Davidson (J.W.), John Gregory Underwood (Cristina), Christopher Lyn Underwood (Stephanie), David Cory Underwood (Jennifer); and cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Underwood, Kelsey Davidson, Jacob Ezell (Hailey), Cameron Underwood, McKenzie Davidson, Aaron Ezell, Estrella Underwood, Vianey Underwood, Hayleigh Underwood, Jaxon Underwood.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Ave., Richmond, VA 23227.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local volunteer rescue squad or Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.
