Audrey B. Gillespie

Audrey B. Gillespie, 89, of Varina passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was a graduate of Varina High School, Class of 1944. She retired from C & O Railroad and was a retired organist for Nelsen Funeral Home and for Hardy Central Baptist Church where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Gillespie, Jr. and her parents, William and Lola Beadles. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Anne Estes (Richard); son, Rick Gillespie, Sr. (Debbie); grandchildren, Annette (Steve), Ricky, Jr., Allison (Matthew), Adam (Michelle), Brianne, and Sarah; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Hodges (Mark); and beloved nieces and nephew who she thought of as her own. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where services will be held Friday, August 25, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Hardy Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
