Aurora Ocariza Daquilanea, also known as Rory or Rul to many of her closest friends and relatives, 84, of Richmond, VA, was born in Cebu City and passed away on May 20, 2026, from multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
Aurora is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jaime; her daughters Daisy (Brian) and Joy (Tanner); her grandchildren Ethan and Leighton; three brothers, Felipe, Mario, and Noel; two sisters, Rebecca and Maria Corazon; and a large circle of family and friends around the world.
Aurora was one of nine children and was preceded in death by her parents, Eustaquio and Amparo Ocariza; an older sister, Adoration; and two brothers, Aniano and Eustaquio, Jr.
Aurora was a registered nurse for 40 years. She graduated from the School of Nursing at San Pedro College (SPC) in Davao City, Philippines, where she formed lasting sisterly bonds with her classmates. They celebrated many reunions over the years since graduating, culminating in their 50th reunion in 2014.
Aurora had a true green thumb — an avid gardener who grew vegetables, fruit, plants, and beautiful flowers both indoors and out. She especially loved her roses and orchids.
She also enjoyed going to the movies, with a wide-ranging taste that included musicals, romance, sci-fi, and action-thrillers. In her younger days, she was an enthusiastic tennis and volleyball player, even competing on a local Filipino women's volleyball team.
Aurora was also deeply devoted to her faith, which became a big part of her identity. Her love for the Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary was reflected in her daily prayers and in the way she freely shared her spiritual convictions with those around her.
In keeping with Aurora's lifelong love of flowers and floral arrangements, flowers are welcomed.
