Barbara Carlton Patterson

She was born on December 12, 1950. She spent her entire life in Varina, graduating from Varina High School in 1969. Her family owned Carltons Country Store for over 50 years. The store burnt in 1999. It was a life-changing event for the Carlton family. Barbara was married in Four Mile Creek Baptist Church on September 6, 1969, to Stuart Bradley Patterson. They were blessed with two children, Jeff and Angie and three grandchildren, Leighann, Alec and Ty. The children were the light of her life, and the children felt the same way about her.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, R. T. Carlton and Myrtle Carlton; maternal grandparents, Barbara Panisci and Laster Stanley; parents, Madge Carlton and Jimmy Carlton; brother, Michael Carlton; and uncles, Tommy, Jud and Carlton.

She is survived by her husband, Bradley; daughter, Angie; son, Jeff; grandchildren, Leighann, Alec and Ty; brother, Dennis Carlton and his children, Dylan and Jamie; sister-in-law, Donna Carlton; nephew, Ryan Carlton; aunts, Randy Powell and Joyce Stoffle; and uncle, Weldon Carlton.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 1, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2930 New Market Road, Henrico, VA 23231, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
