

Clarence Ernest Weis, 92, made his way to Heaven and met the Lord on August 17, 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nina Patterson Weis, and his oldest son, Richard Ernest Weis (Dick). He is survived by his youngest son Robert Lewis Weis (Bobby) and daughter-in-law “Charlie” Weis, daughter-in-law, Sydney Weis, grandchildren Randy Weis, Ann Carter Catlett, Michael Weis, Kim Weis and Brandon Weis and 10 great-grandchildren.
Clarence served with the Army’s 29th Division during World War II, going up Omaha Beach with the second wave. He was a member of the American Legion Post 144, serving as a post commander and life member with over 60 years and volunteering his time as a Legionnaire at the Veteran’s Hospital for more than 1000 hours. He was also a member of the 40/8, National Boxcar Association, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 9808, and a prominent member of Highland Springs Methodist Church. He retired from American Tobacco with over 40 years.
Clarence enjoyed traveling with his wife on bus trips and cruises and enjoyed time at the river in Deltaville with his family.
He will be missed by the many people he touched in his life. As his son Bobby says, “He’s one of the finest men I’ve ever met. He taught me to believe “Life is Good!””
