Daniel William Fadely, Sr. “Danny Boy” 53, of Varina, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in Varina, Danny lived life on his own terms, embracing adventure, laughter, and the people who meant the most to him.
Danny was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who loved his family deeply. He had a personality that was unmistakably his own, a great sense of humor, and a playful spirit that could bring laughter to almost any situation. He loved to joke around and pick on the people closest to him, always finding a way to keep those around him smiling. His sense of humor, larger-than-life personality, and ability to make even ordinary moments memorable were just a few of the things that made him so special.
From a young age, Danny had a love for the outdoors, a little mud, and anything with an engine. Whether he was tearing through the mud in his Jeep or on his four-wheeler, he was happiest when he was out on the trails, getting dirty, or working on something mechanical. His passion for mudding never faded and eventually led him to build his own mud truck, a project that brought him tremendous joy and perfectly reflected his adventurous nature.
Some of Danny’s favorite times were spent fishing at the family river house on the York River, visiting his Uncle David’s property in Charles City, and making memories in the Outer Banks. He also enjoyed riding his six-wheeler and spending time outdoors, where he could relax, enjoy the freedom of being outside, and do what he loved most.
Danny dedicated 15 years of hard work and commitment to Amcor, where he took pride in his job and earned the respect of those he worked with. His cancer diagnosis eventually made it impossible for him to continue working, bringing a difficult chapter of his life to a close. Although stepping away from work was a significant adjustment, Danny embraced the freedom that followed, making the most of his time with family and spending his days doing the things that brought him happiness. He lived those days on his own terms, just as he always had.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Tracy Ann Fadely; his children, Daniel W. Fadely Jr. and Michelle E. Fadely-Craft (Austin) ; his parents, Thomas and Charlotte Fadely; his brother, Steven Fadely (Stacy); his mother-in-law, Christine Olgers; and both of his sister-in-law's, Tina Robertson (Shawn) and Julie Thompson (Chris). He also leaves behind five nephews, five nieces, two great-nephews, and two great-nieces, all of whom were part of the family he loved so dearly.
Danny’s life was defined by his love for his family, his passion for adventure, and his ability to bring laughter into the lives of others. His family will carry forward the memories of muddy trails, days spent fishing, time together at their favorite places, and the countless moments that made Danny who he was. Though his life ended far too soon, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 21, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 2950 New Market Road, Richmond, VA 23231.
To honor Danny’s memory and help others facing similar battles, in lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Cancer Research Alliance (KCCure) at www.kccure.org or the Chromophobe and Oncocytic Tumor Alliance (COA) at www.coakidney.org, in support of research into rare kidney cancer subtypes.
