MAHONEY, Darren W., 18, of Varina, passed away on December 17th, 2016. He was a freshman at Radford University and a member of Hardy Central Baptist Church. Darren was a loyal, loving son and friend. He enjoyed racing dirt bikes, playing volleyball and baseball, and spending time with his family and friends. Darren is preceded in death by his Aunt Tina. He is survived by his mother, Stacy Cooper; father, Derric Mahoney; step-father, Michael Cooper; sisters, Kyla Webb, Abigail Cooper, and Olivia Cooper; cousin, Alex Colgin; girlfriend, Alyssa Marshall; best friends, Drew, Zach, and Cole; and a host of other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22nd from 4-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue. A service will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 12 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
