

He was the son of the late, James T. and Martha Hoy of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
Don served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1939 to 1945 as a chief mechanic and flight chief. He was stationed in the South Pacific for 32 months during his time of service. Don was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant on June 7, 1945.
He was a Past Master of the Sandston Masonic Lodge #216, 32° Mason, member of VFW Post #9808, and American Legion Post #144.
Don was also a faithful member of Ft. Lee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and choir member, among many other ministries.
He retired from Ford Motor Co. after 32 years of providing supplies to dealers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth H. Hoy; son, Donald J. Hoy Jr.; daughter, Millie Hoy; and granddaughter, Kristina Hoy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marie Hoy; son, Michael J. Hoy (Deborah); grandchildren, Nikki Hoy (Matt), Ryan Hoy (Erika), Austin Hoy (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Tyson Proffit, Kason Hoy; step-daughter, Debra Schulze; and step-granddaughter, Michaela Ghassemi.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, at Ft. Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Rd., Henrico, Va. 23231, where he was a faithful member.
Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
