Doris Barker Black

BLACK, Doris Barker, 69, of Charles City, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Zippie Marshall; husband of eight years, Hunter “Pete” Barker; and husband of 13 years, Howard D. Black, Jr. Doris is survived by her two sons, Sid Barker (Gena) and Stuart Barker (Christy); six grandchildren, Nicholas, Shelbie, Hannah, Zachary, Austin and Owen Barker; siblings, Robert “Sonny” Marshall (Margie), Watson “Bubba” Marshall (Ann), Katie Ellerson (Ray), and Bernie Marshall (Jean); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a retired School bus driver for Henrico County with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley Gospel music. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue Richmond, Va 23231, where a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
