He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Ellwood Knight, Sr. and Josephine Winbauer Knight, and his dog, Sandy.
He served in the Army during Viet-Nam and then went on to retire as a service technician for sears, and also retiring from James River Equipment Company as a mechanic. Earl Loved farming, clearing all the land for the farm himself. He cut down the trees and made the lumber he used to build the structures on his farm, that he named West Run Farm. He also loved woodworking and sawmilling and could fix practically anything.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanie Knight Hynst; a son, Earl E. Knight, III; sisters, Kathy, Betty Lou and Mary Ann; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 26 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231, where a service will be held 2 pm, Monday, January 29.
Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
