Edward Trudeau Smith, 73, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on July 12, 2026. Born September 5, 1952, Eddie lived a life marked by steady dedication to work, service, and the quiet enjoyments that brought him happiness.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Millard C. Smith Jr.; his mother, Florence Trudeau Burrell; and his step-father, William Burrell.
A retired Cable Splicer with Verizon Communications, Eddie built his career with the kind of reliability and skill that earns lasting respect. He also served for 16 years in the Air National Guard, a commitment reflecting a deep sense of duty and pride in service.
In his personal time, Eddie found pleasure in collecting gemstones—drawn to their natural beauty and enduring character—and he enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, appreciating the change of scenery and the experiences those travels brought.
Eddie is survived by his brother, Millard "Brooke" Smith III; sister in law, Susan Smith; nephew, Jonathan Smith; and dear friend, Kelly Baillie.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
