Born on June 3, 1980, in Virginia, Eli lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to his family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Eli built a career as a skilled welder and boilermaker, working with IBB and RECO. His dedication to his craft was evident in the years he spent traveling for work. Despite the demands of his profession, Eli always prioritized his family and cherished the time he could spend at home with them after years on the road.
Eli is survived by his loving wife, Angela Watson; his daughter, Hannah Watson; and his son, Henry Watson. He also leaves behind his mother, Margaret Diehl; his brothers, Daniel Watson (Crystal), Keith Watson (Niemo), and Chris Watson (Christina); and his sister, Angel Randolph (Kevin). Eli’s legacy extends to numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless close friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity. He was predeceased by his father, Shuler Jackson Sr.; his brothers, Harold Jackson and Shuler Jackson Jr.; and his sister, Juanita Fowler.
Eli had a big heart that left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Whether it was friends or strangers, he had a way of connecting with people that made them feel valued. He loved hunting and fishing—activities that brought him peace—and he found joy in simply taking rides down back roads. His favorite phrases like “Let’s take a ride”; “Make a Lap”; or “Let’s make a loop” reflected his love for these quiet moments of reflection and exploration.
At home, Eli found comfort in the company of his family and what he affectionately called “the damn dogs.” After years of being away for work, he treasured the opportunity to be present with those he loved most. His children and wife were the center of his world; their happiness was always at the forefront of everything he did. He also loved his dogs, Stormy, Muffin, and Cinnamon; granddogs, Nova and Toodi.
Eli will be deeply missed by all who knew him—family members who adored him, friends who admired him, coworkers who respected him, and even strangers whose lives he touched along the way. His warmth, selflessness, and unwavering love for those around him leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
May Eli’s memory bring comfort to those who mourn him and serve as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on so many lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. The family asks that you please come in dark jeans and a dark blue, purple, or red shirt.
