Elsie Woods Ligon

She was a graduate of John Marshall High School. Elsie worked for Southern Bank & Trust as well as Satterwhite Printing Company. She had a strong faith and love for life. Elsie enjoyed spending time with family and friends while dancing to music and sharing a meal. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Grace Woods; and former husband, George A. Ligon.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert A. Ligon; sister, Barbara Woods Raikes; nieces, Karen Raikes Day, Vicki Raikes Blankenship; devoted caregiver and best friend, Lauretta Crawley; dedicated and faithful friends, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Barbara Benton, Tracy Battle, Sequoia Cosby, Percy Jordan, Ashley Keck, Monique Teal, Yvette Vinson, and Rosa Wiggins for their love and support.

A funeral service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 on Friday, September 3, at 12 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
