He had worked for Philip Morris as a ripper room attendant. He was a terrific card player and enjoyed playing horseshoes, taking trips and watching TV shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gracie Montague and his sister Deborah Montague, and is survived by his siblings, Virginia Brogdon (William), Cynthia Montague, John Montague and Michael Montague; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and devoted friends, Rita Rose, James Ghee, Irvin Barnes, Joseph Durham, and Marilyn Durham.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Richmond.
