Obituary of Evelyn Kelly Dodd
DODD, Evelyn Kelly, age 78, of Sandston, passed away on December 9, 2018. She is now reunited with her loving husband of 56 years, Marvin S. Dodd. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; her father, Edward; her brother, Elmer; and her sister, Margaret. She is survived by her children, Amy Dodd Langston (Peter), and Heather Dodd Jenkins; grandchildren, Timothy Lee Brown (Karli), Joshua William Brown (Lauren), Zachary Daniel Jenkins, Jacob Earl Jenkins, Jaeden Curtis Newsome, and Alana Shia-Renee Newsome; great-granddaughter, Emilee Cate Brown; siblings, Florene Kelly Jarvis, Kay Cornett, Delores Franks, Paul Kelly, Shelby Kelly Swogger, Billy Kelly, Rose Walker Hurt; and many nieces and nephews who loved her. Evelyn was a homemaker and a dedicated foster mother who took great care of her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. The perfect saying to describe Evelyn is, “You can take the girl out of the mountain, but you can’t take the mountain out of the girl.” A visitation will be held Friday, December 14th, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va 23231. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston, Va 23150. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the New Hope Church Building Fund.
