She was a retired grocery clerk with Pantry Pride and Ukrops and was a member of Fort Lee Baptist Church. She enjoyed church activities and taking care of her cats.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Melissa Hodges West; father, Liston P. Hodges; her first husband, Alfred Stuart Hicks; and second husband, Donald James Hoy.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra “Debbie” Hicks Schulze; grandchildren, Michaela Marie (Schulze) Ghassemi and her husband, Cameron Matthew Ghassemi; and great-grandson, Walter Stuart Ghassemi.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26, at 12 p.m. at Fort Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Road, Richmond, VA 23231.
Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
