H. Dudley "Byrd" Sharp
September 15, 1950 – June 19, 2022

H. Dudley “Byrd” Sharp, 71, a well-known Richmond musician, was called home to be with the Lord and reunite with his parents, Emmett O. and Dorothy K. Sharp, 6/19/2022. He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Dorothy Ann, and step-son, Willie Joe Sneed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; daughter, Heather Sharp Jones (Robbie) (who affectionately called him “Deddy”); four granddaughters, Tiffany, Chelsea, Kyndle and Kalista, and a great- grandson, Jameson Dudley; brother, Danny O. Sharp (Sharon); brother-in-law, Wilbur “Chucky” McNamee; and sister-in-law, Michelle McNamee.
Dudley was loved and will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many local musicians and his best friend of 40 plus years, Danny Brizendine. He will always be remembered as an accomplished bass guitar player who graced many stages at festivals and events for over 50 years.
The family would like to recognize his niece, Lacey Allen, for her kind and compassionate care of her uncle “Dud.”
A visitation for Dudley will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Nelsen Richmond, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A visitation will occur Friday, June 24, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00 PM, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231.
